Account Registration and Profile Data
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign up using OAuth providers such as Google, we also receive your profile image from that provider. We use Better Auth to securely handle authentication. Your account credentials are never transmitted to us unencrypted.
Study Activity and Content Data
As you use Latter-Day Daily, we collect and store information about your scripture study activities, including:
- Your reading history and progress through the scriptures
- Bookmarks you create to mark important passages
- Highlights you make in the text, including their color and location
- Journal entries and notes you write while studying
- Passages you mark as favorites for quick reference and organization
This data is personal to you and is stored securely in our PostgreSQL database. We use this information to restore your study progress, provide personalized recommendations, and enhance your overall experience.
Payment and Subscription Data
When you subscribe to Latter-Day Daily, we collect payment information including your subscription status and tier level. We do not directly handle or store your payment card data. Instead, payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We store a Stripe customer ID in our database to associate your subscription with your account. When you sign up for our free trial, you must provide a valid payment card, though you will not be charged until your trial period ends.
Analytics and Cookies
We use Google Analytics (tracking ID: G-P9NESHRP5L) to track usage patterns and understand how you interact with our application. Google Analytics collects information such as:
- Pages you visit and features you use
- How long you spend in the application
- Your approximate location (city-level)
- Device type and browser information
- Referral source if you came from a link
This analytics data is processed by Google and subject to Google's privacy practices. We use this information to improve our service, identify bugs, and understand which features are most valuable to our users. When you first visit Latter-Day Daily, a cookie consent banner appears to give you control over analytics tracking. You can choose to accept or decline analytics cookies.

- Stripe: Payment processor that handles subscription billing and payment processing. Stripe receives your subscription status and Stripe customer ID. Your payment card data is handled directly by Stripe and governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics: Analytics service that collects usage data to help us understand how users interact with our application. Google may use this data subject to their own privacy policies.
- Better Auth: Authentication service that securely manages your account credentials. Better Auth does not have access to your study data or personal preferences.
All service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes specified and to maintain appropriate security measures.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our legal rights, enforce our terms, protect user safety, or prevent fraud or illegal activity.

Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit Latter-Day Daily, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of your screen. This banner allows you to:
- Accept Analytics: Enable Google Analytics tracking for usage insights
- Decline Analytics: Opt out of analytics tracking while still using the full Service

Data Retention

- Account Data: Retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Account page.
- Study Data: Your reading history, bookmarks, highlights, journal entries, and favorites are retained as long as your account exists. Upon account deletion, this data is permanently deleted.
- Payment Data: Subscription status and Stripe customer ID are retained to maintain your billing relationship. Upon cancellation or account deletion, we delete this information from our records (though Stripe may retain records for legal and financial compliance).
- Analytics Data: Google Analytics data is retained according to Google's retention policies (typically 14 or 26 months depending on your consent settings).
- Server Logs: Technical logs containing IP addresses and server activity are retained for 30 to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.
Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access and Portability
You have the right to access your personal data and understand how it is used. You can view your account information, reading history, bookmarks, and highlights within the Latter-Day Daily application at any time.
Correction and Update
You can update your name, email address, and profile image through your account settings at any time. If you need assistance making changes, please contact us through the Account page.
Deletion
You have the right to delete your account and all associated personal data. You can initiate account deletion through the Account page. When you delete your account:
- All your personal data (name, email, profile image) will be permanently deleted
- All your study data (reading history, bookmarks, highlights, journal entries, favorites) will be permanently deleted
- Your subscription will be cancelled immediately
- Your Stripe customer ID and payment information will be removed from our database
Please note that some data may be retained temporarily in backup systems (typically 30 days) before being fully purged. Legal and financial records required by law may be retained as required.
Opt-out of Marketing
We do not send unsolicited marketing emails. All emails you receive are transactional in nature (account confirmations, billing notifications, password resets). If you wish to opt out of any communications, you can manage your preferences through your account settings or contact us via the Account page.
Analytics Opt-out
You can disable analytics tracking at any time by declining cookies in the consent banner or changing your preference through your account settings. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on mentioned in the Cookies section.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
We do not sell your personal information. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. This applies to all users, including California residents.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights:
- Right to Know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal data we have collected about you.
- Right to Delete: You may request deletion of your personal information. You can do this directly through the Account page or by contacting us.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent local law.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance: Processing your account data, study data, and subscription data is necessary to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: We process minimal security and fraud-prevention data to protect our platform and users.
- Consent: We only load Google Analytics after you affirmatively accept the cookie consent banner. You may withdraw this consent at any time by declining in the consent banner.
International Data Transfers
Latter-Day Daily is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from the EEA or other regions, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on our third-party processors' Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other appropriate safeguards for international transfers:
- Stripe processes payments globally under their Privacy Policy which includes SCCs for EU data transfers.
- Google Analytics transfers data under Google's EU-US Data Privacy Framework certification.
Your GDPR Rights
In addition to the rights described in the "Your Rights" section above, EEA residents have the right to:
- Restrict processing of your personal data
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (DPA)

Children's Privacy
Latter-Day Daily is not directed at, nor intended for use by, individuals under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information immediately and terminate the child's account. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided information to Latter-Day Daily should contact us immediately through the Account page.
For users between 13 and 18, we recommend parental oversight. We encourage parents to discuss internet privacy and security with their children.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, and destruction. These measures include:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
- Secure password hashing and storage via Better Auth

However, no security system is impenetrable. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
